Magnalyte Cream, which treats melasma (dark spots on the skin), is a combination of three medicines: hydroquinone, tretinoin and fluocinolone acetonide. Hydroquinone is a medicine to remove skin blemishes. It reduces the amount of skin pigment (melanin) which makes the skin color darker. Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A that helps the skin to regenerate faster. Fluocinolone acetonide is a steroid that blocks the production of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause redness, swelling and itching in the skin.
